Chapter Four

At first she was a little shocked that Jon didn’t send the flowers that morning and couldn’t image who could have sent them to her. “Just becareful will you and be on the lookout for anybody that looks SUSPICIOUS.” Rick told her but the last word she said with him which annoyed him. “Do you think I’m kidding here?” Rick said.
“No I don’t, I’m sorry okay.” She said chuckling.
A.J. walking over to her “We mean it just becareful Sweetie. Someone out there knows your history with Jon and Michael and they’re using that.”
“I will don’t worry. What I’m more worried about is Jon. He’ll be more all over me than usual. Oh I don’t mean that get your minds out of the gutter.” She smiled.
“Well we’re going to follow it up more here they should have a video camera so hopefully we can get an I.D. on that woman who paid for the flowers then fax it over to you guys.” Rick said.
“You know I love you guy’s right?” she told them.
“Yeah we know.”  A.J. said.
“But you do know ever since you started dating this guy all you’ve had been is in trouble.” Rick observed. All she did was look at him pursed her lips and shook her head at him pissed. “Don’t give me that look young lady you know I’m right.” Rick said back. She hated to admit it but Rick was right. Ever since she started dating Jon their relationship; there was nothing but trouble evolved in it.
When the concert finished for the night and the after party was finishing up it was late. Luckily Jon had told Rich B. that he wanted the after party held in the bar at the hotel so he wouldn’t have far to go just in case he did have a little too much to drink. Dorothea saw Jon sneaking off to the back elevators that led to the back of his floor when she approached him. “Hey Jonny.”
“Dotty what do you want?” he said sober enough.
“I think you know what. Look I didn’t come all the way here just to say Hi and you know that.” She was finally getting around to why she was there.
“Yeah I didn’t think so.” He said finally relieved that she was getting to the point. Jon leaned against the wall just with his arms crossed. “So go ahead get to the point.”
“Okay I will, your alone, I’m alone, why don’t we be alone together?” she finally told him outright.
Jon nearly started laughing. “You’ve got to be kidding me? You were the one who always got pissed if I cheated on you. And now you want me to cheat on my girlfriend. You really think that’s okay?” he asked surprised.
“Well what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her. Right? Plus it would give us an idea to see if things are still good between us. If we should still be together.” She said sliding her hand up his chest which his shirt was unbuttoned so it exposed his hairy chest. He grabbed her hand and took it off of him.
“Um I don’t think so Dot. As tempting as your offer isn’t, I made a promise to Mary and I have no qualms about keeping it. I love her and only her. So if you’ll excuse me I’m tired.” He told her inexcusably as he pushed the up button of the elevator.
Dot stormed off like a little girl having a temper tantrum. She was not going to let this go. She was going to get him back come hell or high water. Jon reached his room and luckily he left a small lamp on so he wouldn’t kill himself in the dark. He decided to just go straight to sleep so he entered his bedroom and shucked his closes to crawl into bed. But when he did he felt a body of someone who was also naked in his bed who was sound asleep. He felt it and found that it was definitely a woman which was to his advantage if it came to a fight. He sat up and turned on the lamp next to his bed. ‘Oh this should be good. Rock star kill in his own bed.’ He said to himself. ‘Okay I can do this.’ He slowly pulled down the blankets to see who could be in his bed with him and as he did he got the surprise of his life. He had to blink his eyes a couple of times to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. There she was lying there besides him was his Mary. He finally got this shit eating grin on his face and decided two could play this game. So he crawled down under the blankets and between her legs. Before she could even let out a scream he had her over the moon. They didn’t stop making love til early morning when they both fell asleep in each other’s arms exhausted. Late morning came and sure enough that banging on his door also came. They both started to stir and Mary wanted to know what the hell the noise was. “Honey, Honey! Some idiot is banging on the door. Make them go away.” She whined tiredly and pulled the blankets over her head.
It took Jon a second to realize what was going on. “If it’s one of the…Shit!” he said horrified.
“What?” she asked under the blankets.
“Nothing Baby I’ll take care of it.” He winced.
He got out of bed and grabbed his jeans from last night and had to stuff his morning erection down into it and hoped his mother wouldn’t see it. Dragging himself to the door he only opened it half way and stopped it with his foot. Looking a bit more shaggily than usual and really tired “Hey Mom, Dad, guys.” Carol just looked at him in shock.
“Jon you look horrible dear. Did you drink too much last night?” she asked him concerned.
“No Mar I didn’t. Could you guys come back say like dinner time. Late dinner.” He asked.
“Why?” she asked trying to peak into the room.
“Because I asked Mar.” Jon said wringing his hands in his hair.
“My God Jon do you have a girl in there? You do don’t you! Oh its Dorothea isn’t it. Well we’ll just…” Carol rambled happily.
Jon just shooked his head. “No Mar it’s not Dot. It’s Mary okay my girlfriend and we would really like some alone time so if you don’t mind…” Jon tried to say shutting the door.
“Well yes I do mind.” As Carol tried to open the door further but John Sr. stepped in.
“Carol we can come back later. Son we won’t bother you and we’ll call before we come to your room.”
“Well John don’t you think we should meet this girl?’ Carol said in a huff.
“We will Dear, Jon how about tonight say around eight for dinner?” John Sr. suggested.
“Sounds good Pop now I’ll see you all later okay?” Jon said shutting the door finally. Leaning his head on the door he wanted to laugh and bang it at the same time. Going back into the bedroom he stripped off his jeans and got back into bed.
“What took you so long?” she asked sliding over to him and cuddling up over him locking her legs and arms around him.
“It was my parents, they been coming over around this time for the past week to have brunch with me.” Jon said kissing the top of her head.
“Oh so you didn’t feel like it this morning?” she asked knowing his answer.
“You want them here? Sorry Babe but I have other ideas for you.” he said waggling his eyes at her.
“Oh really what kind of ideas mister.” She asked giggling.
“That’s Master to you Baby.” He smirked. They had stayed in bed all afternoon. Jon wouldn’t let her go. It had been a long couple of weeks without her and he was going to try and fit what he could in the few hours before he had to let her go and they had to be dropped back into the circus again. Dinner time approached and they were getting ready to go down stairs to the restaurant that Jon had made reservations at and as they were getting ready to leave when Jon asked, “Are you sure you want to do this? I mean I can called down and make some lame excuse why we can’t make it.” He told her.
She just giggled at him. “Wouldn’t that just bring your mother up here to see what the matter was?” she asked him with her hands on her hips.
“I suppose your right.” He said frowning.
“Honey is it that you don’t want to go or that you don’t want me to meet your family?” she asked.
He started to fidget. “Probably that I don’t want you to meet them?” he said making a face.
“Why? I know your mother can be a little domineering but is she really that bad?’ she asked concerned.
“Baby you have no idea. I just don’t want you to get upset with anything that she may say to you that’s all.” He said walking over to her and kissing her on top of her head.
Wrapping her arms around his waist, “Well the faster we get this over with the faster we can get back here and…” she didn’t get to finish as she said nibbling on his ear.
Squeezing her tight, “Keep doing that and we’ll never get the hell out of here. Okay let’s go but no dessert, well ‘giving his evil laugh’ not til we get back here anyway.” Slapping her butt they walked out of the room to go meet with his folks.
Waiting in the restaurant the Bongiovi’s were seated waiting for their son to arrive with his girlfriend. “So where are they?” Carol asked peeved.
“They should be down shortly Dear we got here a little early. Boys sit down and behave.” John Sr. said. They did but Carol didn’t. The waiter came over to see if they wanted any drinks. The boys took soft drinks while John took a beer and Carol and Dorothea had mixed drinks. Luckily for Jon they were only about ten minutes late when they walked in. John Sr. spotted them and waved to them to come over. “Now Carol they’re here and I want you to behave.” John stressed to his wife.
“Hi Mom, Dad, Dot?” Jon was a little bit surprised that Dorothea had come with his family to meet his girlfriend. John noticed this and before his wife could start he did.
“Well, well who do we have here?” as he tried to be cute with his greeting.
“Oh right where’s my manners. This is my girlfriend Mary Simon I’d like you to meet my family, this is my father John senior.” John stood up and introduced himself.
“It’s very nice to meet you finally.” He said and gave her a hug.
“Thank you, you too.” She said nervously holding Jon’s hand tightly.
“And this is my mother Carol, ‘she just nodded her head and Mary just smiled at her’ and these two lunk heads are my brothers Tony and Matty.” Jon said as the boys both said hello as Mary said hello back. Then Jon looked at Dorothea with an ‘what the hell are you doing here look’ and said “And this Baby is my ex-girlfriend Dorothea Hurley. She came with my folks I explained all that to you.” Jon said annoyed as hell. Again squeezing his hand a little harder to say ‘I get your point, don’t get pissy’
“Yes you did Sweetie, Dorothea it’s nice to meet you. I believe we’ve spoke over the phone.” She told her and to get her point across.
Dorothea replied, “Yes we did and it’s finally nice to meet you too.” As the venom came from her.
Jon pulled out Mary’s chair so she could sit down and the waiter walked back over to get their drink orders. Jon got a beer like his Dad and Mary ordered a soda. Carol didn’t know what to make of that. Was she trying to impress them by not drinking? So of course she had to bring that up once the food orders arrived. “So Mary you don’t drink?” Carol asked her. Jon looked at his Mom not to happily.
“Not really Mrs. Bongiovi. I don’t really like the feeling it gives me. You are out of control.” She told her.
“Oh I understand you have a problem with it.” Carol said bluntly. Jon, John Sr. and Dot nearly spit out they’re drinks or choked on their food. But not Mary.
She put her foot on Jon’s as he yelled out “MOTHER!”
 And John Sr. “CAROL!”
“What? What did I do?” Carol answered but before the two of them could answer Mary did.
“No Mrs. Bongiovi I don’t have a problem with alcohol. I have migraine headaches and it’s not good for me to drink too much at once so I don’t drink at dinner. Besides I like to drink either soda, water or juice. I leave my drinking a little later when I know I either have food in my stomach or special occasion or if I just feel like it.” She explained giving her a look that said ‘don’t piss me off.’
“Mom she doesn’t have to explain why she doesn’t drink. If fact she doesn’t have to explain anything got that?” Jon told her out right.
But Mary turned to him and said. “Sweetie it’s okay she’s your Mom and wants to know certain things about your new girlfriend and if she doesn’t ask questions how will she know. No matter how personal she thinks they are she doesn’t want you to date a gold-digger. I get that and if she asks me something I really don’t want to answer, believe me I’ll let her know. Just because my Mom, who by the way can be more intrusive than your mother, excepted you without Town getting you checked out for her to see if you were a good guy, well that’s her problem not mine.” She answered with a smile on her face.
Jon just sat there with his mouth slightly opened. Even Dorothea was afraid of his Mom when they first met. But not his Mary. He didn’t know whether to stand up and clap or just sit there and laugh. Carol just huffed then asked “Well who’s this Town?”
“Oh Town Lt. Marcel Brown. But everyone at the station calls him either Lt. Brown or Town or Downtown Brown. He’s like another older brother to me. Best friends to my two older brothers Rick and A.J.” she told them.
“Oh that’s right, Jon told us they’re private investigators and so are you.” John Sr. said.
“Isn’t that dangerous for a girl?” Tony asked.
Jon chuckled as Mary elbowed him in the ribs. “No not really. Not if the girl knows what she’s doing.” She told them.
“Do you carry a gun?” Matty asked.
“Yes.” she said smiling.
“And you know how to use it?” he asked her.
“Of course I do.” Again she said smiling.
“Can you show us!” Matty pleaded.
“Of course NOT!” Carol also bellowed.
“I will not allow that. Jon how can you be around her if she has a gun?” Carol asked upset.
“Mom keep your voice down will you please. Mary knows how to use it and she keeps it in a safe place.” Jon told her.
“Carol that’s enough, I think it’s good that Jon has someone to watch his back and that she’s as pretty as he said.” John smiled as Mary started to blush.
She liked his Dad and his brothers. She turned to his brothers and said. “Guys I hate to dash your dreams but your Mom is right. Guns aren’t toys. They’re very dangerous and you need to know how to handle them properly. Maybe when you’re older, much older I’ll teach you how to handle them correctly okay but right now I’m sorry.” She said seeing the disappointment in their eyes.
“Does Jon get to see your gun and use it?” Matty asked.
“No Matty he doesn’t. I don’t let anyone other than my brothers use my gun. They know how to handle it properly, okay? Now can we change the subject, please?” she asked them knowing it was bothering Carol. Jon put his hand over hers and she looked at him and they smiled at each other but she did notice an I don’t get it look on his face. All she did was shake her head a little to tell him later.
Dot stayed quiet for most of the night so Mary decided to ask her a few questions. “So Dorothea what do you do?” she asked her with a smile.
“Oh I work with this Do Jo in New Jersey, in Sayreville.” She told her.
“Really wow all I know how to do is boy fight.” She laughed. But the problem with that is Jon spoke up and started to praise Dorothea and her skills in karate and when she started to take lessons. Mary’s mouth nearly dropped opened and Carol’s smile couldn’t have gotten any bigger. Did he praise her being a P.I.? No. But with the karate thing he couldn’t stop talking and all she could do is sit there and listen to him go on and on with Dorothea chiming in and talking about their time in high school and how she went on tour and handled some groupies one night. Mary gritted her teeth as they all were talking and laughing and right about then Mary really could use a drink. A good stiff drink. Mary wanted to excuse herself and go to the ladies room but they had made a deal one: no running away and two: when things were done and they were ready to leave the table they were going to go back upstairs together. Saying to herself ‘next relationship no fucking deals!’ The waiter finally came over and asked if anyone wanted dessert and his family started to order but when they got to them Mary just said no but Jon order a strawberry cheese cake. She looked at him like ‘What the fuck!’ but he was so into the conversation it didn’t register with him.
“Oh Mary aren’t you having dessert? Or are you dieting?” Carol asked eyeing her up and down.
“No I’m full but thank you for asking.” She said disgusted.
“Mom you don’t ask a girl if she’s…OH!...dieting.” it finally hit him. Looking over to her she looked down at her lap which he knew instantly that she was hurt and probably pissed. He waved the waiter over. “Hi can you cancel my cheesecake please all of a sudden I really don’t feel like any.” He told him.
“Certainly Mr. Bon Jovi is there anything else I can do for you?” he asked.
“Yes just put all of this on my bill please.” Jon told him.
 “Yes sir.” The waiter said.
“Jon you don’t have to pay for this let me and your mother, we’ve got this.” John Sr. offered. Carol almost spit out some of her drink which Mary and Dorothea noticed.
“Dad I’m making money now. Besides they’ll just bill it to my room so don’t worry okay. If you want to pay the tip.” Jon answered back. They were bantering back and forth Mary finally let out a little cough trying to get Jon’s attention. Just as Jon looked over to her the waiter came back with a small bouquet of Lilies and gave them to Mary.
“Excuse me Miss Simon?” he asked. Mary turned around and froze when she saw what he was holding, Jon nearly leapt at him.
“Where the hell did these come from!” Jon demanded. As he jumped up from his seat to stand next to Mary and the waiter. The waiter was startled by Jon’s actions as was everyone else at the table was.
“Jon calm down will you.”  Mary said grabbing his arm.
“Excuse me, but do you know who gave you these?” she asked calmly as she could. The waiter turned to her seeing she seemed to be more rationale.
“No Ma’am I didn’t they were at the Hostess’ desk and she gave them to me to give to you.” he told her.
“Thank you and please excuse my boyfriend.” Turning to Jon, “What the hell was that all about?” she asked pissed.
“What are you mad at me for? Do you see those flowers? Those are Lilies.” He told her like she didn’t know.
“Thank you for clarifying that for me. Now if you don’t mind I’d like to go back to the room I’m a little TIRED!” she stressed.
Carol who doesn’t like to be out of the loop asked. “Would someone please tell me what’s going on? What does a bunch of flowers got you so riled Jon? Or is it because you didn’t send them to her and she’s hiding something from you?” Carol said trying to start something between them.
“Carol I warned you! That’s enough.” John Sr. demanded.
“Mother stay out of this. It’s none of your business!” Jon yelled.
“Well people are looking at us.” She told him.
“I don’t fucking care!” Jon told her.
“Jon watch your mouth!” Carol told him as he rolled his eyes at her.
“Will you people just STOP! I’m going back to the room. On my way I’m stopping at the Hostess’ desk. Please do not follow me or I won’t get the info I need because she’ll probably be flirting with you, and right now I just can’t take that okay.” She told him through gritted teeth.
 “But Baby?” he said.
“No! I’ll meet you by the elevator.” She told him as she left. He knew she was pissed at him but wasn’t too sure as to why.
“Well she was rude. If I was you...” Carol was about to say when Jon interrupted her.
“You better not finish that sentence.” Jon told her.
“But I was just…” Carol was about to say.
“No Mom you’re going to tell me that for some stupid reason you don’t like her. But you just don’t have a leg to stand on now do you? And what’s this bringing Dotty here to dinner? Sorry Dot but this was just inappropriate to bring my ex-girlfriend to a family dinner to meet my new girlfriend Mom. I just Argh! I’m going to go meet her and just please leave us alone for the rest of the night. Dad?” Jon looked to his father for help.
His father shook his head and said. “You go son I’ll take care of everything.”

“Thanks.”  Jon went off to the elevator to wait for Mary and to see what was going on between the flowers and why she was angry with him.https://plus.google.com/112980814629422193605
